Piano Information
♫ Age of Piano – One of the most misunderstood aspects of pianos. When looking at a used piano, the condition is everything! A 20 to 30 year old piano in great condition is equivalent to a 2 or 3 year old car in new condition. For all intents and purposes they are essentially new.
♫ Temperature/ Moisture Extremes – Pianos that have been subjected to extensive moisture exposure will often develop serious problems. Rust and corrosion on the tuning pins, coils and strings can make a piano un-tunable. Moisture exposure to the tuning pins in the pinblock can also make pianos un-tunable. Similarly, extreme dryness can cause the wood in the action to dry out and get brittle. The keys and the entire action can develop clicks, buzzes and various other sounds.
